linoleum blocks
Linoleum is a surface into which a design is carved and printed from. A Lino block consists of a thin layer of linoleum, which is a canvas backing coated with a preparation of linseed oil. All Lino blocks in my studio are used and recycled in as many ways as possible to ensure maximum usage and care for a healthy environment.
cranfield relief inks
Vibrancy and sharpness is created by the use of Cranfield Caligo Safe Wash Relief Inks. Extremely lightfast and easily mixable, these inks contain a high pigment content. Water-soluble, non-toxic and oil-based; they can be washed away safely with liquid soap and water or cleaned with vegetable oil, making the use of harmful solvents unnecessary.
fine art paper
Responsibly sourcing paper is essential to my practise. Selecting the correct paper adds to the authenticity and organic process of printmaking. My fine art paper stack includes the following; Zerkall, a smooth paper mould-made from part cotton rag; Kozo Natural traditional Japanese paper; Lokta, made from the lokta plant found in the Himalayan foothills; and Sunn Hemp Recycled, a traditional Islamic paper from North India.
kozo natural
Traditional Japanese paper, Kozo Natural is crafted from 80% long fibered kozo. An intrinsically warm paper, Kozo Natural is also resilient and pliable for printmaking.
lokta
Produced from the lokta plant of the Himalayan foothills found above 3000metres. Lokta is a sustainable and renewable resource; plants can be reharvested after 3 -4 years.
sunn hemp recycled
From North India, this paper is made from a mix of raw sunn hemp and recycled sunn hemp. Crafted by Mahomed Hussain Kagzi, who is considered to be the last surviving maker of this traditional Islamic paper.
